The Covington family opened one of the first boarding schools in the region- housing students in the attic - and are remembered for bringing some of the first musical instruments to the area. The house was originally located east of Vancouver but was later moved to Vancouver, at which time a stone fireplace and back building were added. Now a community center, it has been in the care of the Vancouver Women’s Club for over 50 years. In front of the Covington House stand a brick monument to Vancouver and a metal sign commemorating the Blue Star Highway, honoring soldiers of WWII.
